In Damien Jalet’s new creation Kites, premiering on March 18 at Göteborgs Operan, “life and dance hang by a delicate thread. With unstoppable, relentless fluidity and joyful emergency, Kites pulls its audience in a vortex of complex patterns and movements at the crossroad between cutting sharp precision and ecstatic abandon. An extremely physical reflection on the fleeting, fragile yet powerful nature of life, hanging on a thread like a kite surfing on unpredictable currents.”

For Kites, the French-Belgian choreographer largely collaborates with the same team as in his previous production in Gothenburg, Skid (2017): the set design is by New York artist Jim Hodges and Carlos Marques da Cruz, and the costume designer is Jean-Paul Lespagnard.

Kites premiered on March 18 and will be on the Gothenburg stage until April 21, 2022.
