As part of the Thinking in Cardboard Mentorship Programme realised in collaboration with Scenography Today and UNITA Program, The Centre for the Less Good Idea’s SO Academy will be hosting an Open Studio showcasing the processes and techniques that inform William Kentridge’s current commission by Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Shostakovich Symphony No. 10.
This Open Studio will be presented by Kentridge and long-time collaborator, Sabine Theunissen – artist and theatre, opera, dance, and exhibition designer and UNITA Ambassador.
The event is however open and available to the public via live stream and takes place on 16 September 2021 from 17h00 – 19h00 (SAST).

The Academy for the Less Good Idea was launched in 2020. In its collaborative and multidisciplinary approach, the Centre for the Less Good Idea has recognized powerful yet unforced learning that takes place between practitioners in the building of seasons and programmes. SO Academy seeks to extend and expand these possibilities. Its programming includes a wide range of learning experiences and opportunities such as mentorships, incubative workshops and public conversations.
SO Academy’s Thinking in Cardboard Mentorship Programme takes place under the guidance of international artist, Sabine Theunissen, assisted by Marine Fleury. The mentorship participants include twelve artists coming from six continents.
