On the stage of the Palais Garnier in Paris from June 8th to July 13th, 2019, this production of Mozart's Don Giovanni directed by Ivo van Hove features a suggestive architectural set. The three blocks, with cast concrete finish, rotate reconfiguring the space following the progression of the performance. They disclose urban views out of a labyrinth of alleys, porches, and loggias through a multitude of references to Escher's Relativity, Takamitsu Azuma's Tower House, Piranesi's 'Imaginary Prisons', and to Carlo Scarpa's work.
